株洲市荷塘区位于湖南省株洲市东北部，1969年建制为株洲市东区，1997年8月经株洲市人民政府区划调整为荷塘区。现辖仙庾、明照2个乡镇,月塘、茨菇塘、金山、桂花、宋家桥5个街道办事处，43个行政村32个社区居委会，总面积159平方公里，总人口22.5万人。
